All about laser hair removal
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal uses a focused beam of light to heat the pigment in the hair root. This damages the follicle so less and less hair grows back. The surrounding skin is spared because the laser targets the hair only.
At Reem Beauty in Spijkenisse we use the Soprano Titanium diode laser. It combines four wavelengths in one treatment and continuously cools the skin with ICE™ cooling, so most clients find it virtually painless.
How many sessions do I need?
On average 6 to 10 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart. Hair grows in cycles and the laser only works on hair that is actively growing at that moment, so several sessions are needed. The exact number depends on your skin and hair type and the area. We create a personal plan at the intake.
Preparation
- Shave the area 24 hours beforehand.
- Do not wax, pluck or use depilatory cream in the 4 weeks before: the hair root must be present.
- Come with clean skin, without cream, deodorant or make-up on the area.
- Avoid sun and sunbeds for two weeks before the treatment.
Aftercare
- Slight redness or warmth is normal and usually fades within a few hours.
- Use SPF 50 daily and avoid sun and sunbeds for two weeks after the treatment.
- Avoid saunas, intense exercise and hot showers for the first 24 hours.
- Shaving between sessions is fine; waxing or plucking is not.
Who is laser hair removal suitable for?
The Soprano Titanium suits a range of skin types and works best on dark hair. Blonde, grey and red hair contain little pigment and respond less well. We do not treat during pregnancy, over tattoos or with certain skin conditions or medication. Not sure? We will look at what is possible for you during a free introductory consultation.

What is the difference between IPL and laser hair removal?
IPL uses flash light with many wavelengths at once. A laser uses concentrated light at a set wavelength, so the energy reaches the hair root more precisely. Reem Beauty uses a diode laser (Soprano Titanium), not IPL.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
With the Soprano Titanium and its continuous ICE™ cooling, most clients find the treatment virtually painless. You feel a brief, warm sensation at most.
How should I prepare for a laser treatment?
Shave the area 24 hours before, do not wax or pluck in the 4 weeks before, come with clean skin without cream or deodorant and avoid sun and sunbeds for two weeks before the treatment.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
After a full course most clients see much less hair growth for a long time. Hormones can trigger new hair later; an occasional maintenance session keeps the result.
